The Masters entries are always very special and it's my favourite issue of the year. I love poring over every little detail of the beautiful projects.<br />
<br />
So here is a post revealing all my entries - thanks to some encouragement from my lovely scrappy friend <a href="http://paula-mycreativeramblings.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Paula Perry</a>, who was also featured in the Honourable Mentions - make sure you check out her blog if you haven't already!<br />
<br />
The first was a canvas and I (crazily) decided to do the front AND the back - the back of a canvas works just like a shadow box so I made a little scene of myself at my scrap desk with all my masters scrapbook entry in miniature! I love miniatures and I can see more shadow box creations coming this year. So here is the back, which was in the HM issue of the SBM magazine...<br />

<br />
...and here is the front of the canvas. I really love how this turned out.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w2ACiKO4_Nw/UP6Nyxiu-GI/AAAAAAAAFQs/JFwYdQeHCRM/s1600/canvas-front---compressed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w2ACiKO4_Nw/UP6Nyxiu-GI/AAAAAAAAFQs/JFwYdQeHCRM//canvas-front---compressed.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
The next project was a single layout using a 5x7 enlargement. I just loved this pic of Tas that I look - a random photo that ended up being one of my most fave for the year. Isn't it funny when that happens?
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The third project was a double page layout with a childhood theme, which was naturally fun for me. Anything retro!
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
This was the second HM layout, and a very special page. I decided to feature my gorgeous litle boy Angus but also highlight his Autism with the colourful jigsaw pieces, which the journalling was about. The little piece of memorabilia was a clothing tag from one of his tshirts (a jigsaw piece).
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iUfyst6Mk6U/UP6RkbRMG-I/AAAAAAAAFSk/ov1L6wzItJU/s1600/LO-multiples-compressed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iUfyst6Mk6U/UP6RkbRMG-I/AAAAAAAAFSk/ov1L6wzItJU//LO-multiples-compressed.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I just love these photos - sometimes I just want to cram as many on to the page as possible!
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OWfxfQHL4h8/UP6SK6LIqoI/AAAAAAAAFSw/ZZAQDr9Hnec/s1600/second-five.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OWfxfQHL4h8/UP6SK6LIqoI/AAAAAAAAFSw/ZZAQDr9Hnec//second-five.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-38745380933961937802012-11-06T19:32:00.001+10:302012-11-06T19:32:57.722+10:30December Daily :: Scrapbooking class in AdelaideI am excited to share here that I am going to be teaching at the FABULOUS Charlottes Web Papercraft shop right here in Adelaide!<br />
<br />
My first class starts this Thursday night at 6pm and if you're available and interested in coming along, we're making a December Daily album. This is the perfect project for those of us who run out of time to scrapbook our photos over Christmas because it is such a busy month! Based on Ali Edwards' December Daily project, we will make a complete 31 double page, 6" x 4" album. Each double page represents a day in December, but there are so many ways you can interpret this: add one photo for each day of December, like I do, or add random photos from the month, or even just all photos from Christmas Day.<br />
<br />
The completed album will take 6x4 photos, which makes it easier to fill when you are ready with your printed images. We make the album from scratch, adding all pages, stamps and embellishments as foundation pages ready for December, so you can enjoy the festive month and just add photos and journalling as you go, to 'be in the moment' and record it while it's happening, without spending hours 'labouring' over scrapbook pages ;-)<br />
<br />
This image of the mini book is for illlustration purposes only but is similar to the spiral bound mini book we will be making. <br />
<br />
So I'll leave you with a sneak peak of some of the new Christmas papers being used for this album project.<br />

I completed my first scrap page in a <em>long</em> while last month, for the September White With One challenge (white + orange + black) but couldn't upload it to the blog because of computer issues. Yes, those pesky gremlins again. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm trialling Photoshop Elements 11 this month, and the editor is working very well, just not the organiser :-( </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ah well, at least I can use my computer for editing again, which is the main thing. And here is my page:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wd_a1m5nsOU/UHETePQdh2I/AAAAAAAAFL4/6-WEJFYiKNU/s1600/web-action-cut-coffshop-sharpen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wd_a1m5nsOU/UHETePQdh2I/AAAAAAAAFL4/6-WEJFYiKNU/s1600/web-action-cut-coffshop-sharpen.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
and the journalling reads:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZTpewtpt6j8/UHEUhOWiScI/AAAAAAAAFMI/SVxuY35z7nA/s1600/web-action-cut-journalling.jpg" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And don't fall over, there is another page to share tomorrow as well!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Sunday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
It's been a while between posts.<br />
<br />
Tasmin, 5 has started school and Angus, 3, has started pre-kindy one day a week. It's been a very child-centred few months but that's not a bad thing. I've got to understand Tasmin's needs much better since she started school and while there have been many challenges (mainly getting her dressed, to school, and home again) things improved hugely by the end of the term. I learned that the behavioural challenges - the yelling, the crying, the refusal to move - is often just because she is very tired, hungry, or overstimulated. She's very much a sensory seeker and doesn't understand that her little body can only take so much movement and noise.<br />
<br />
Both the children are 'picky' eaters and my decision last month to re-introduce a gluten-free dairy-free diet into our family life has meant a lot more time planning, shopping, preparing and cooking in the kitchen. It's a challenge I'm really enjoying though and I'm going to stick with it until the end of the year.<br />
<br />
Today I made a gluten-free low-dairy lasagne, and a gluten-free chocolate fudge from <a href="http://skinnyms.com/slow-cooker-fudge/" target="_blank">Skinny Ms</a> (warning: it's not low-cal!). <br />
<br />
The fudge is very sticky so I'm not sure yet if it will set for tomorrow, but we'll see. Here's what it's <em>supposed</em> to look like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kK1EYmSHk8Y/UHAuXITHcSI/AAAAAAAAFJ0/pOJVgBzrRCo/s1600/choc+fudge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kK1EYmSHk8Y/UHAuXITHcSI/AAAAAAAAFJ0/pOJVgBzrRCo/s600/choc+fudge.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
So, back at my scrap desk, I decided to have a go at the <a href="http://www.whitewith1.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/ww1-october-challenge-1st-birthday-sale.html" target="_blank">White With One challenge</a> this month, which is white + yellow + stars and here is my page:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
And the journalling:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Happy weekend!<br />

And here is my page for the Stuck?! Challenge this month..... loving the circles!</div>
<br />
A small error in the title - ahem - it should read Tasmin at 4. It was taken last birthday, LOL! She turns 5 today. I made my page while I was away in Melbourne a few weeks ago with my scrappy pal <a href="http://www.skruijver.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Sharmaine</a>. We stayed for a long weekend in Melbourne, with the main attraction being a <a href="http://timholtz.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Tim Holtz</a> workshop on Sunday. Naturally we had our photo taken with him...here's our little - blurry - happy snap with the man himself. His PR / marketing guy Mario was very obliging and shot the pic with my camera but didn't manage the auto focus very well, bless his cotton socks. Oh well, Mario, practise makes perfect! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TkSv_WZfKNA/T_kK5k5N7OI/AAAAAAAAFGg/oji3HQ-S2GQ/s1600/blog-IMG_1691-copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TkSv_WZfKNA/T_kK5k5N7OI/AAAAAAAAFGg/oji3HQ-S2GQ/s600/blog-IMG_1691-copy.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Sharmaine (left), and I and about 60 other happy campers went along to Tim Holtz's Melbourne workshop to make an interesting little canvas project and have a bit of a play with his lovely distress inks and various other mediums. <br />
<br />
I did learn a few little tips from doing this class - I always reckon classes are worthwhile when you learn even just one new thing. I loved the way these little stamped butterflies were die cut (from a new machine he's having manufactured) and their wings popped up so you could see the background text peeping through. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
We bumped into Belinda Spencer, another Adelaide girl, and some other Charlottes Web teachers she'd travelled to Melbourne with. Such a small world, isn't it? And so so fun to met Facebook and Blogger friend IRL!<br />

I love that we were given cute Ranger aprons as well as a little butterfly stamp from Stamp-It, who sponsored the event. And of course the project we made. </div>

<br />
Here is my page - my last as a CT member with KIU!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The journalling reads
<br />
<br />
<i>Angus I am so proud of you. I delight in your progress - with speech and language, your social skills, your sheer delight and wonder in the ordinary and everyday. You are beautiful, so funny and so curious. What I long for is to have an ordinary conversation with you, to discover your thoughts and dreams. But just keep being you and keep being happy xoxoxox Mummy</i>
<br />
<br />
I've written my journalling like a letter to Angus. While I really do wish for that ordinary conversation, we communicate with basic key words and signs, and he is just the most gorgeous little boy. He is also amazing just as he is.
This photo was taken while he sat on a steam train - his idea of perfection, I would guess!<br />
<br />
The CT call is still going at Kraft It Up but today is the last day for entries. Give it a go, if you love Kraft as much as I do!!!Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-76909925905543836862012-07-08T13:04:00.000+09:302012-07-08T13:04:43.226+09:30Its all about the lunch boxOne of the most fun things about scrapbooking for me, is sorting through my box of 'leftover' random photos that I love, but that maybe didn't fit into Project Life. I keep them all of course, but they each have a story attached. <br />
When I saw the <a href="http://www.scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/stb-july-challenge.html" target="_blank">Scrap the Boys challenge</a>, scrapping school photos, I remembered this random little photo of Angus at Tas's kindy one afternoon, happily playing after the kindy kids had left for the day. As soon as he spotted his lunch box he was straight into it, LOL!<br />
<br />
Love this little boy. <br />

I've used grey cardstock, which formed its own interesting pattern after scanning, lots of lovely washi tape from D-Lish Scraps, some scrappy leftovers, gesso, and my new fave product - Tim Holtz Distress Stain dabber for splatting with. Thanks <a href="http://www.skruijver.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Sharmaine</a> for that fantastic tip!</div>Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-88040464950776488022012-07-08T00:49:00.001+09:302012-07-08T13:04:53.839+09:302 mums, 8 kids and a few scrappy layouts.Yesterday my friend <a href="http://annakeepingittogether.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Anna</a> brought her four children to my place, so we could have a bit of a scrap session, and include Tasmin. Tas had already made her layout when our friends arrived!
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yyB8EjwoZI0/T_hJxDzoLbI/AAAAAAAAFEg/efGCf7kwqE4/s1600/web-IMG_5326ps2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yyB8EjwoZI0/T_hJxDzoLbI/AAAAAAAAFEg/efGCf7kwqE4/s600/web-IMG_5326ps2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Chloe, now 10, came for a scrap session last year and I decided to submit her pages to SBM magazine. They actually accepted one of the pages, but it took almost a year to appear in the magazine. The postman brought the magazine while we were scrapping - what a fantastic coincidence! <br />
<br />
We were so inspired by her success, that I encouraged her to make a page or two for a challenge site, Sophie's Corner, especially for children. The <a href="http://www.showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/sophies-corner-july-challenge.html">July challenge </a>is to scrap a page of yourself and a friend.
<br />
<br />
We took a quick iphone picture of Chloe with Tasmin, printed it on my Selphy printer, and away she went! She brought a second photo for her other layout. Here are her pages:
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5jnjikaRMC8/T_hKixbWT8I/AAAAAAAAFEs/-gDuwVXLopQ/s1600/chloe%2Blayout%2Bpink%2Bcompressed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5jnjikaRMC8/T_hKixbWT8I/AAAAAAAAFEs/-gDuwVXLopQ/s600/chloe%2Blayout%2Bpink%2Bcompressed.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_0DrTL2chUQ/T_hKjD9x41I/AAAAAAAAFE4/5930wWFIg9s/s1600/chloe-layout-mist-compresse.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_0DrTL2chUQ/T_hKjD9x41I/AAAAAAAAFE4/5930wWFIg9s/s600/chloe-layout-mist-compresse.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Chloe is amazing to watch. Instead of shifting things endlessly about the page like I used to, she works quickly and fearlessly. She loves Glimmer Mist - who doesn't? After I showed her how to make her own fabric button, which you can see on the first page, she decided to try one with paper towel. This might sound strange, but it actually works. And the paper towel had a cute swirl on it. Definitely pinching that idea.
<br />
<br />
We wondered how the younger siblings would go.
I hoped that our DVD's, trains, and toys would keep Noah, 20 months, and Seb, nearly 3, happy. Taylen, 6, watched us scrap for a bit.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ByFFhqmQnuw/T_hNhrePc8I/AAAAAAAAFFQ/qA2AVihasxk/s1600/web-IMG_5328ps-eyes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ByFFhqmQnuw/T_hNhrePc8I/AAAAAAAAFFQ/qA2AVihasxk/s600/web-IMG_5328ps-eyes.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
After he went and played outside with Tas, he decided to come back inside and try some misting, stamping and splodging. He ended up making three (background) pages! I loved his fearless splat technique, so I'm pinching that too, LOL!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UpJvA4vtF1Y/T_hL1OC5PNI/AAAAAAAAFFE/sUua-gdbcDY/s1600/web%2BIMG_2109ps2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UpJvA4vtF1Y/T_hL1OC5PNI/AAAAAAAAFFE/sUua-gdbcDY/s600/web%2BIMG_2109ps2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
At one point my sister popped in with her two children, 2 and 12 weeks. With my step-daughter Stephanie also here for the week, that meant there were eight children in the house. EIGHT! And it went pretty smoothly. Phew! Steph enjoyed a quick cuddle with my baby nephew before he demanded his Mummy back.
<br />

<br />
<br />
Anna and I went out on the balcony to watch the children playing hide and seek. I realised we have the perfect backyard for this. It's rather, er, wild and bushy! Chloe hid and waited for Tas to find her.<br />

<br /></div>
Life has been so busy lately that this poor little blog has become pretty neglected. Life can be very inconvenient! It's taken me several months to navigate new routines -- and hang on to my sanity -- while speeding my way up a very steep learning curve.<br />
<br />
Let me fill you in.<br />
<br />
Last year my youngest, Angus, was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2, and early this year my daughter Tas, 4, was also diagnosed with an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) -- Aspergers. Five years ago I was heavily pregnant with my first child, and (naiively) thought life was hectic and full <em>then</em> - with a fulltime high school teaching job and a new mortgage. I wonder what I might have thought or done differently, if I'd known what was ahead? I'm afraid I was one of <em>those</em> girls who had a very romanticised and rosy image of motherhood - picture a slow, quiet life, with cookies baking in the oven, a little herb garden by the back door, endless time to craft and sew and renovate, and play with the children in the backyard.<br />
<br />
Ha!<br />
<br />
After battling a long and painful recovery after the first birth, a rather drawn-out period of post-natal depression, and loneliness as a new mum, financial struggles with two (interstate) step-children to support, the death of my dear Dad, family issues and living with a very challenging toddler and new baby, it's been a hard road. But the good thing is, I've come out the other side and there have been many blessings.<br />
<br />
I've learned how to control my stress during the day when I'm in "fight or flight mode" so I'm not so worn out by the evening. <br />
I've learned that I can be free in any situation by closing my eyes and praying (or meditating or just thinking happy thoughts and visualising a calm place).<br />
I've learned to breathe.<br />
I've learned that I can fit exercise into my routine.<br />
I've learned that I don't need to comfort eat in the evening to relax.<br />
I've learned that scrapbooking is the best hobby <em>ever</em>.<br />
I've learned that I have <em>very</em> cute kids.<br />
I've learned that I really dig photography.<br />
I've learned that there are some AMAZING mums out there.<br />
I've learned that it's a marathon not a sprint.<br />
I've learned to not tolerate the intolerable.<br />
I've learned that I have the same number of hours in the day as everyone else.<br />
I've learned that I need 8 hours of sleep every night.<br />
I've learned that strangers who look "creepy" or "weird" usually aren't. Just different. (It's a lingering stereotype. Society still wants to label people with learning disabilities / disorders<em> negatively</em>).<br />
I've learned that I have to be the change that I want to see in the world.<br />
I've learned that a surprising large number of people know next to nothing about autism.<br />
I've learned that it is okay - <em>necessary</em> - to have time for myself several times every week.<br />
I've learned how to be an ABA therapist / early childhood teacher / psychologist / speech therapist / legal advocate and occupational therapist for my children.<br />
I've learned that I can limit our schedule to no more than one appointment a day and that it's ok to say NO.<br />
I've learned that it's OK to keep the school holidays appointment-free.<br />
I've learned that the slow cooker is the best kitchen appliance ever invented.<br />
<br />
plus I have an amazing husband...but I already knew that! Have a great day...I plan to :-)Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-62195777248227474072012-05-02T22:22:00.000+09:302012-07-08T13:05:20.588+09:30Scrap pages to shareHello!
<br />
<br />
I have been away from the blog for a while. A bit swept away by the busyness of the everyday, each day so tightly scheduled. I've been thinking a lot about how I might get more 'balance' in to each day. There are soooooo many things that need to be done, then there are things that I would LIKE to do, and there's the issue of eating well, sleeping well, exercising.
<br />
<br />
How do you fit it all in each and every day?
<br />
<br />
This week I've decided to break my habit of flopping on the couch and just watching tv in the evening when the kids are in bed, when I could be reading or having a bath, or scrapbooking. <br />
<br />
So far, so good!
<br />
<br />
Here are some layouts I finished recently but haven't shown on the blog, yet. These first two were for Stuck!? Sketches in the month of April:

I have been inspired to create some new things recently that I'm looking forward to sharing here as I go. Here's what floated my boat on Pinterest recently:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Bread...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Soup...</div>

<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/36380709460012533/" target="_blank">source Lulu the Baker, via Pinterest</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Great winter recipes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've pinned well over 1000 items on Pinterest now. I know! But I've gradually started to actually make things based on what's inspired me. I used to do a lot of cooking before having children, but have really struggled to find the time for it. I've started making some new things based on recipe pins.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last week an opportunity arose ... it was Anzac Day, DH had the car, and the kids were home so I decided it was as good a time as any to make bread. I've always wanted to try making my own bread. This one is gluten free, which we're experimenting with (children with autism are thought to benefit from gluten free diets, but it's really only based on anecdotal evidence). Here's the result:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vUM_Pcyosgc/T6Eru0ScP-I/AAAAAAAAFDg/XTCbEg_PKW8/s1600/selphy+bread.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vUM_Pcyosgc/T6Eru0ScP-I/AAAAAAAAFDg/XTCbEg_PKW8/s600/selphy+bread.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I'm very proud of this effort, considering it was my first time! I used a Basco bread mix from the shops, and it contained tapioca flour, maize flour and rice flour. The kids weren't keen on it but Ian and I liked it, and it's the first time I've even liked a gluten free bread. The texture was similar to a scone. The trick is to cool it quickly when it comes out of the oven to avoid the glugginess.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made a chicken soup for dinner tonight in the slow cooker with a whole chicken and a fresh packet of 'soup mix vegetables' from the shops. I haven't got a photo of it, but trust me, it was great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

A butterfly stencil repeated 8 times, using texture paste smeared on to the stencil with a palette knife, a little clear embossed hand written note in the corner and a little glimmer mist over the top to finish.<br />
<br />
Quick and easy, that's how I roll!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-tIh0e7dCVqU/T3GWLSM8jDI/AAAAAAAAFB8/qzO6lqjpidc/s640/blogger-image--572898305.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-tIh0e7dCVqU/T3GWLSM8jDI/AAAAAAAAFB8/qzO6lqjpidc/s640/blogger-image--572898305.jpg" /></a></div>Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-1359495961145534852012-03-20T14:23:00.001+10:302012-07-08T13:06:02.243+09:30Stuck?! Here is the criteria in more detail:
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: courier new;">This month is a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 challenge
and we want to see...</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">1 Piece
of Kraft Cardstock or Patterned Paper</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">2 Photos
of any size</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">A <span style="font-weight: bold;">3</span> word
title</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">4 different pieces of patterned paper</span>
<span style="font-family: courier new;">and</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">5
different embellishments</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">**
Embellishments can but are not limited to Journal Cards/Tags, Ribbons, Stickers,
Die-Cuts, Flowers, Buttons, Twine, Chipboard etc...</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">*** Feel
free to use paints/inks/ mists etc these are not included in the
above.</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">Any
questions please email: kraft.it.up@hotmail.com</span><br style="font-family: courier new;" /><span style="font-family: courier new;">Entries must be linked no later than 11.59pm
March 31st</span></span><br />
<br />
<br />
and here is my take on the challenge:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GLXMIvyDKa4/T1IYBW1P6VI/AAAAAAAAFBQ/IPQVCdq1tGY/s1600/deb-smith-MARCH-u-deserve-time.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GLXMIvyDKa4/T1IYBW1P6VI/AAAAAAAAFBQ/IPQVCdq1tGY/s600/deb-smith-MARCH-u-deserve-time.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Kraft cardstock, two photos, three word title, four patterned papers and five embellies. For the latter I went with fabric button / twine / clouds / Typo camera and word stickers. There's actually a lot on the page but it still fits my 'style' if I can call it that... I like a bit of white space on the page. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
BTW one of my<em> personal</em> scrappy challenges this year is to use up all my old patterned paper so I have room for some lovely new ones!! I wonder if I will manage it. It'll be fun trying :-))</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This photo was taken late last year when I took myself off for a solo retreat to the city. It had been 12 months since my last one, and I'd rather not wait so long for the next! I had three glorious nights to myself, and spent quite a bit of time just chillin' and readin' before I broke out the art supplies. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you think about taking solo retreats? Would you go on one, or do you prefer hustle and bustle? Or maybe you don't need to and live somewhere quiet?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-34450211539456104722012-03-03T23:29:00.000+10:302012-03-04T00:01:52.054+10:30I love Stuck?! SketchesSo, this is my exciting news for the week...I'm one of the new CT members at Stuck?! Which means I get to pull out my scrapbooking stash and play with a new sketch twice each month! Which is sooooo good because if you're like me, you sometimes need a little kick to get going :-))<br />
<br />
Here is this month's first sketch:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8_rU6_BNozI/T1INytAi-kI/AAAAAAAAFBI/ST_oskTw7eo/s1600/IMG_2274.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8_rU6_BNozI/T1INytAi-kI/AAAAAAAAFBI/ST_oskTw7eo/s400/IMG_2274.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love to see the different interpretations of one sketch! Mine will be revealed on Monday. Be sure to visit <a href="http://stucksketches.blogspot.com.au/p/creative-team.html" target="_blank">Stuck?!</a> and submit your own page...great prizes to be won.
<br />
<br />
...and I also get to share my application page with you. <br />
<br />
This is a page I really like... it definitely highlights Tasmin's happiness and I love scrapbooking for that. Pages like this help me hold on to the positives. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qnu11fsX0_A/T1ILH2JVlyI/AAAAAAAAFA8/n07GDjQoCnA/s1600/Deb-Smith-page-SHE-IS-FUN.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img ?="" border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qnu11fsX0_A/T1ILH2JVlyI/AAAAAAAAFA8/n07GDjQoCnA/s600/Deb-Smith-page-SHE-IS-FUN.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Materials: Bazzill cardstock, Kaisercraft patterned paper, Glimmer Mist, Memories Mist, Imaginarium chipboard, Judikins Embossing Powder, Tim Holtz artistry stamp, black StazOn ink, Zig writer</span>.<br />
<br />
I've had two pages accepted for publication with Scrapbooking Memories magazine too so fingers crossed with those! After my honourable mentions last year, it would be thrilling to have another layout or two published.<br />
<br />
A couple of weeks back i was thrilled to bits to receive a<a href="http://www.canon-europe.com/for_home/product_finder/printers/direct_photo/Selphy_CP720/index.asp" target="_blank"> Canon Selphy</a> photo printer for my birthday. It was 'regifted' to me from my sister who'd had it virtually unopened still in its box, for three years! It works just fine, printing great images straight from my Canon 550d and the Canon Ixus. I've found that I can transfer photos from my iPhone to the laptop via the Canon Eos software, save on to the memory card, and print to the Selphy from there. <br />
<br />
This has very exciting implications for my Project Life album. This year whilst I kept up my photo a day the images were banking up on my iphone unprinted and I was beginning to despair that I would ever "catch up". This project is very important to me, documenting each week, because our life moves so quickly that it's all I can do to hang on to a bit of it and own it.<br />
<br />
So I'm slowly catching up and as a way of keeping myself 'regular' I'm going to do an <a href="http://aliedwards.com/" target="_blank">Ali Edwards</a> I think and post my Project Life spread each week.Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1507965041425090991.post-57780917722328622692012-02-28T08:12:00.002+10:302012-03-04T00:03:04.349+10:30Tasmin has Aspergers<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is just a quick note to say "hi, I'm back!" How I've missed blogging regularly. It's 8.07am, I have 23 minutes to get myself, and two children dressed, plus lunches made and get out the door. I've done it before, I can do it again!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This morning to begin my New Schedule for a Better and Calmer Life I got up at 5am to go for a walk. Lovely! Then I came into the study to start my first real blog post at 5.30am. Only, as usual, Tasmin (akas The Red Beast) woke up and joined me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's been a rough morning.</div>

Stay tuned. </div>

<br />
<br />
The challenge this month at Kraft It Up is to incorporate LOVE into your page. It doesn't have to be romantic love, and you can scrap about friends, family, even loved objects and places! You also need to include the colour PINK there somewhere.
<br />
<br />
For my page, I have used a photo of my sister and I from Christmas and I don't remember the last time a photo was taken of just the two of us. There is usually someone else in the photo, such as children! We both are wearing red and this really symbolises love I think.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I think this page pefectly sums up our sisterly relationship...giggles and good times, and a connection to our shared childhood. I ripped a page from an old novel - so quirky! - and added some wood grain patterned paper, tickets, my home printed masking tape, some jenni bowlin letter stickers and American crafts thickers (inked to match the red and pink colours in the page), some rub on letters, vintage ticket sign, and Martha Stewart butterfly punch (punched from the photo and added back on the page).
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And did you notice my latest favourite thing..?? chevron patterned paper! In red, too.
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Head over to the <a href="http://www.kraftitup.blogspot.com/">Kraft It Up </a>and give this challenge a <strike>red</strike> pink hot go! There are prizes on offer from Scrap Therapy, Polly Scrap Kits and Greatest View.

<br />
I got behind for the first time in November though I continued to take lots of photos! I managed to get the photos printed earlier this month and I'm playing catchup this morning while Angus is at ELC today. <br />
<br />
The photos are in the pages now but there are gaps to fill from missing photos, ephemera, date blocks and journalling. So here I am in a cafe BY MYSELF this morning having a ball! I LOVE this project. <br />
<br />
I use an American Crafts ring binder<br />
Album, and just stick the photos on the included paper inserts. I play with the photos in Photoshop first and often add the journalling right on the photo. <br />
<br />
I have just bought some new page<br />
protectors that fit 6 x 6x4 landscape photos and now I'm finding this easier quicker and more flexible than glueing. Should make this year's albums lighter too. <br />
<br />
Where do you keep your photos?<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-U04mH2onecw/Tx-xnOKMemI/AAAAAAAAE_Y/l9SC7T8WRbA/s640/blogger-image-1814806116.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-U04mH2onecw/Tx-xnOKMemI/AAAAAAAAE_Y/l9SC7T8WRbA/s640/blogger-image-1814806116.jpg" /></a></div>Debbie Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12915369130331595684noreply@blogger.com3
